Ok I myself have encountered some issues in regards to the application process in order to go to taiwan and its only recently become aware of what I have to do as well as the process involved, so I wanted to share it with you fellow EPers so you don't have to make the same mistakes as me :P.
I am going to Taiwan to do HIV/AIDs project with AIESEC CHENG-CHI UNIVERSITY,
[Process]
In order to go to Taiwan, what I understand the process is being, supply the EP managers with the required materials so that they can get the permits for you to work there, then apply to the embassy for Taiwan in Canberra for a short internship Visa. Below are more specific details about the steps taken by me.
- First apply on AIESEC.net and get in contact with your EP manager.
- You have to upload you form onto AIESEC.net so that you can be made "Available" to be able to start searching and contacting people about the interships that your interested about. Have your resume ready since you are going to have to upload that along as well to your applicaiton.
Don't worry if you get it wrong since you can edit your EP Form later on. If you want to search up a TN or an EP number later on, what you have to do it on myaiesec.net go to the exchange tab on the left --> go to EP--> go to Home--> to to search then you should be able to look up TN numbers from people who email you to get you interested in their exchange.
- Apply on AIESEC.net by emailing the TN people about your interest, something along these lines
"My name is Mark Kein,
and I'm from AIESEC UWA Vice President of Talent Management (Australia).
I am planning on going on exchange at the end of November this year and I am very interested in your Cultural Education Internship.
I can speak and understand Chinese (Mandarin) as my parents are both originally from Taiwan, but I was born in Australia (I'm an Australian citizen).
My EP ID is: EP-In-AU-WA-2010-1308
When you have the time, I would appreciate it if you could have a look at my form and let me know if you think I would be suitable for this project.
Warm Regards"

And apply to more then one since they might not respond to you in time. Once they have then your set, just talk to the host Local Committee (LC) asking them questions about the internship and so forth. With mine, I had to fill out an application form which I have attached to this email and then the Exchange Participant(EP) correspondent just emailed me all the things that she required off me.
With some off them, you will have to do interviews over skype, questionares and other things depending on what the host LC considered appropriates.
NOTE: Do this ALL ASAP the application and the emailing people since the sooner you find out whats required for you to go to that country and on the intership, the sooner you can get the results back, book your flights earlier and then not have to worry. I did this a bit late and now I am pressed for time. Don't make the same mistake.

- She then sent me a Acceptance Note (AN) which I had to fill out and sign, then I scanned it and sent it back before she sent me the copy of the AN that the Intern taker had signed as well. This meant that now I had a legal binding Contract to go on this exchange.
- Check you passport is not expired or when it is going to expire
I didn't and what happened is when it was required off me to send my documents over they required a passport but mine had expired just recently. The other issue was that my passport was a Malaysian one, so I have to get a new Australian passport in a limited period off time, required forms and appointments which strained time.
Renewing your passport is quite simplistic so don't worry if you have to do that.

- Health Check
With going to Taiwan I had to supply them with the information to apply for a work permit there, one segment off this is the Health check up. It requires you to get both a blood test as well as Xray. I advise you get an appointed to your GP as well as get the information ASAP. Its looks like you should get the blood test as well as the Xray done before going to your GP, though you can meet up with them 1st and then after they have advised you go to the places where you can get the other results.
Advise:When talking to your doctors try to convince him that you are going for volunteer work as a student, and that you are not profiting from it, that way you should be able to get the test results covered by Medicare.
